Investing a little….A lot!
Our advisers will often speak about Investing a little….a lot! – you don’t need to be rich to set yourself up with an ever increasing, tax effective income stream for life, and the same goes for your health.
Anyone that has attended our Information Evening will remember the discussion around “the purple box”. Investing a little a lot is not just advice around contributing toward a bigger investment portfolio, its advice around You and Your purple box. Remember investing in yourself is the best investment you will ever make.
Have you set yourself with a goal of getting fit and eating healthy? So many people set this as their New Year’s resolution every year, but give up when it quickly becomes too hard. They often miss one day of exercise, or have that terrible day of binge eating, then just throw it all away. Old routines, an ordinary diet and hardly any exercise are resumed. The next time one thinks about improving their lifestyle is the next year, or special event they want to look their best for.
This is the trap that many people fall into, and shouldn’t.
Everyone needs balance. No one can expect to be regimented and controlled all of the time. Even Cindy Crawford talks about her secret to looking fabulous is eating a little, a lot. . A way to minimise the ‘sweets’ cravings is instead of eating a family sized bag of M&M’S and later feeling guilty about it, eat a fun sized bag every day and know that you can while maintaining your health.
When it comes to planning an exercise regime, you need to ensure it’s sustainable. There is no point planning on getting up at 5am every day to get in your 1 hour spin class for it to only last 2 weeks, before burning yourself out and never doing it again. Instead, maybe plan on a 30 minute class, 4 days per week. You are more likely to continue to do it week after week.
Remember though, if you get home late from work and miss your gym class, it’s not all over – get out for a quick jog around the block before dinner, or take your dog for a walk with your partner after dinner.
Investing a little…a lot is a good strategy when it comes to any investment – whether it is financial, health, relationship or career related. You are never going to get anywhere if you don’t start! Get a little bit uncomfortable every day and you will start to be comfortable in the long run. Invest a little, a lot today!
