I started Income Solutions in Melbourne in May 1987, and today it has grown to be a successful financial advisory firm with offices located in Geelong, Melbourne and Colac, employing 18 staff.
There have been many changes in the financial planning profession over the years; the most important of these being the educational requirements enforced to become a financial adviser. The majority of our advisers at Income Solutions are degree qualified and have become Certified Financial Planners, a process which can take up to 6 years of study to complete.
I believe further education is an ongoing requirement, so I encourage all staff (including myself) to participate in further education to increases knowledge, expertise and drive our personal development.
The other major change in the financial planning profession is the value clients expect and demand from their relationship with their financial planner. Income Solutions is committed to our relationship with clients; we continue to look at new ways to enhance this relationship and provide the best possible service.
We are a fee for service advisory business and take no commission on any investment clients make – this allows us to offer the best possible and genuine advice to our clients.
We are committed to educating our clients so they make informed decisions about their investments. We offer a continuing education program to our clients from step one; being our free information evening hosted monthly in our 74 seat auditorium where we discuss the 3 income producing asset classes being cash, property and shares; all the way through to your ‘staying on track’ review meetings.
We host special events throughout the year, with presentations from Australia’s leading economists as well as motivational and lifestyle presentations from some of the best presenters in these fields. Past presenters have included Li Cunxin from ‘Mao’s Last Dancer’ and Tom O’Toole from Beechworth Bakeries. These presentations are inspiring and encourage our clients to invest in themselves – Income Solutions core belief – the best investment you will ever make is in yourself.
We encourage our clients to pursue their careers or business objectives with enthusiasm and passion. It may require discipline, time, money and hard work, but the returns you receive will be superior to any other investment you make.
Once you have embarked on this journey, you may then require advice on where to invest your surplus cash flow. You will need to create a capital base which will produce an income stream that is consistent, reliable, tax effective and ever increasing. A large part of our education program is designed to show people how to achieve this type of income stream.
